Retro Crafts Are New Again

During the 1960's and 70's, macrame was everywhere. It started off as a craft practiced by sailors whose jobs required them to tie a variety of knots. It eventually turned into a craft when people discovered it was a wonderful way to be creative with little or no experience. Over time, this craft was explored by experienced artists. They turned macrame pieces into works of art while they were seeking new frontiers for their creativity. Many people sported belts, necklaces and bracelets crafted by friends and relatives while artists covered entire walls. This craft is now making a comeback in retro and vintage shops around the world.
